Hear from people like you who have overcome life's challenges and stepped up to live the life they desire.
"The longer you have your prosthesis, the more normal it becomes.
I can get in and out of my kayak by myself, and I can put it in and out of my truck. I also use the treadmill, kayak, row, and hike.
I put it on and it doesn't come off. It's nice to put it on and just go about my day."
Realizing the benefits that the prosthesis actually provides us, and how it allows us to live somewhat normal lives, is worth the work and effort.
I have a lot of goals for the future. I want to learn how to surf. I want to go back to work. There's a lot of things that I want to do that I'm going to do.
What I've learned is just because I lost a leg doesn't mean that I can't do what I did before. Life changes, but you learn to adapt. For the most part, I continue going on, and I get to do what I want to do—I just can't wiggle my toes.
It's not as easy as just getting up and walking and getting a leg. It takes a lot more patience and time.
I don't understand why anybody would not want to have that prosthetic and be free to do whatever they want to do—to drive, and just to get around.
My relationship with my prosthetist is more like a partnership. I almost feel like part of a family because I think it's really important to have a good relationship with your prosthetist.
Everybody at Bremer is just absolutely fantastic. They knew exactly what I wanted and how everything should fit. The service was great. Communication was great. They worked really well with my insurance company and that really helped out a lot. Just an absolute homerun. I just couldn't be happier.
Bremer has been so good to me. I think without the relationship with Tom, and Nate, mostly, I probably wouldn't have stuck it out like I have to do so well.
Pay attention to what other amputees are wearing. Learn from what you see other people use. A lot of that can be adapted to what you're doing.
You don't have to change the sock on the fake foot as often. You could go like a week on the same sock because you don't have stinky sock!
My relationship with Bremer, I can't believe. If you've got a problem and you call them, they'll get you in in a hurry. I respect them.
I really like the folks here because they are willing to go the extra mile and really customize the device for me. They're really trying to understand what I want out of the device and give me everything that I ask for.
I've had several different prosthetists, but Brian at Bremer prosthetics has been probably the most efficient person that I've worked with.
Nate treats me like family when I'm here. He treats me like I'm the most important person here.
Oh you guys—oh hell I love you guys. You guys treat me really nice and do everything you can with me.
These are great people. They do any and everything they can to keep you motivated, to keep your progress moving forward.
Honestly, I hardly notice I even have a prosthesis on anymore, and I could not be happier to be back to living my “normal” crazy life!
I received exceptional care at Bremer and a socket which is much more comfortable than what I previously had
It is now 3 years later and I am walking very well. In fact, most people don’t even know I am an amputee until I tell them.
They are so caring and compassionate, and I really do love and appreciate them more than they know!
I can’t stress enough to make sure you are going to a place that is best for you and that you're getting the care you deserve.

They do not use the term, “good enough,” ever, and they always do their best and then some.
They offer a wonderful program called Step Up, which is a great place to learn different activities on your prosthesis. They offer this program for free, and it is not only a great place to get active, but a wonderful support group!
The staff and service is exceptional, and I could not be more satisfied. Everyone is so kind. and they always make you feel good about yourself

They are always willing to do more and go beyond! I am happy to be able to get outside independently and continue doing work that needs to be done.
I feel important as a patient and a person not only at the facility but outside of it as well. I love and appreciate the time and thought they put into the process of getting me into a prosthetic that fits great and is what I need for my desired activities!
