So Every BODY Can Move: Expanding Access to Prosthetic and Orthotic Care

At Bremer Prosthetics, we believe that movement is medicine—and that physical activity is a right, not a privilege. Yet, for millions of children and adults in the United States living with limb loss, limb difference, or mobility impairments, the ability to move freely is often limited by one thing: inadequate insurance coverage.

That’s why we’re proud to support the So Every BODY Can Move movement—a nationwide initiative driving legislative change so more people can access the prosthetic and orthotic care they need to stay active.

Why This Matters

For many, a prosthesis or orthosis isn’t just a medical device—it’s the key to participating in sports, enjoying outdoor activities, or simply living life to the fullest. Unfortunately, current insurance policies often fail to cover the specialized devices needed for physical activity, leaving patients without access to life-changing technology.

So Every BODY Can Move is changing that—one state at a time.

State-by-State Progress

Since 2022, the movement has helped pass laws in multiple states that expand coverage for prosthetic and orthotic devices designed for physical activity. These victories mean more people can now access the tools they need to stay healthy, strong, and engaged in their communities.

States that have already enacted legislation include:

  • Arkansas
  • Colorado
  • Illinois
  • Maine
  • Maryland
  • Minnesota
  • New Hampshire
  • New Mexico
  • Florida

And many more states have introduced bills or are building the groundwork for future legislation.

How Bremer Prosthetics Supports This Movement

Bremer Prosthetics is more than a provider of advanced prosthetic care—we’re advocates for our patients. We work closely with community leaders, legislators, and advocacy groups to push for policy changes that make prosthetic and orthotic care more accessible.

If you live in a state where legislation has been enacted, we can help you navigate the claims process for orthotic and prosthetic care for physical activity. If your state hasn’t yet passed a law, we can connect you with advocacy efforts to bring this change to your community.

How You Can Get Involved

This is a movement powered by people—patients, caregivers, clinicians, and allies—who believe everyone deserves the chance to move.

Here’s how you can join:

A Future Where Everyone Can Move

With over 40 state coalitions, 250+ volunteer leaders, and thousands of advocates nationwide, the So Every BODY Can Move movement is gaining momentum. Every new state law is a step closer to ensuring that every person—regardless of insurance policy—has access to the devices that help them move, play, compete, and live without limits.

Bremer Prosthetics is honored to stand alongside this mission. Together, we can make movement possible for everyone.
